Wolters Kluwer sells Public International Law and Human Rights programme to Koninklijke Brill nv

Wolters Kluwer and Koninklijke Brill reached an agreement on the sale of the Kluwer Law International publishing lists in the fields of Public International Law and Human Rights. Details on the sale price will not be disclosed.

Kluwer Law International, a Wolters Kluwer subsidiary with its headquarters in The Hague (the Netherlands) and activities in Europe and the United States, focuses predominantly on international legal and tax information targeted towards practitioners. The decision to divest the publishing activities in the fields of Public International Law, Human Rights and related subject areas, follows the recent integration of Kluwer Law International with Aspen Publishers, a subsidiary of Legal, Tax & Business North America.

The publications in Public International Law and Human Rights are amongst the world's market leaders and are highly esteemed by librarians, researchers and authors alike.

The programme consists of over 1650 book titles, 17 journals and 5 loose leaf publications. The programme includes well-known academic authors and some famed statesmen, institutions and politicians. The publication programme has approximately EUR 4 million annual revenues. The two key publishers related to the programme will transfer to Brill.

Wolters Kluwer North America Announces Acquisition of Bowne Publishing Unit

New York, October 1, 2002 - Wolters Kluwer North America today announced that its Aspen Publishers, Inc. has purchased the assets and business of Bowne & Co., Inc.'s securities publishing division, the company's business unit engaged in the sale of books and videos on securities, corporate and legal topics.

Bowne's securities publishing division assets will become part of Aspen Publishers (aspenpublishers.com), New York, NY, a leading provider of legal and business information, and a Wolters Kluwer company. Other terms of the sale were not released.

The acquisition further strengthens Aspen Publishers' extensive securities, accounting and legal product lines. Aspen Publishers acquires Accounting Research Manager™ from Arthur Andersen

(NEW YORK, September 23, 2002) - Aspen Publishers, Inc. announced today that it has acquired Accounting Research Manager™ (ARM) from Arthur Andersen. ARM is among the largest and most comprehensive online databases of expert-written analytical accounting and auditing information as well as primary source data from accounting regulators and standards boards. ARM will become part of Aspen Publishers, New York, NY, a leading provider of legal and business information, and a Wolters Kluwer company. Approximately 16 Andersen accounting experts also will join Aspen as part of the acquisition. These individuals will remain based in Chicago.

TRI Moves to Aspen Publishers, Inc.

Spencer & Associates, a leading provider of print and online pension, benefits and compensation information. Terms of the sale were not released.

The acquisition includes Spencernet.com, a subscription online service that provides in-depth pension, compensation and benefits information, updated daily. The Spencer titles that have been acquired target pension and employee benefits professionals and include loose-leaf subscription titles such as the Compliance Guide for Health and Benefit Plans, IBIS Briefing Service, and Research Reports on Employee Benefits.

The publications will become part of Aspen Publishers (aspenpublishers.com), New York, NY, a leading provider of legal and business information, and a Wolters Kluwer North America company. Terms of the sale were not released. The Prentice Hall Direct titles that have been acquired target U.S. accounting and legal professionals. The acquisition includes best-selling titles such as the GAAP Handbook, Accounting Deskbook, IT Policies & Procedures, Lawyer's Deskbook, Complete Guide to HR Law, and Labor & Employment Law. The acquisition further strengthens Aspen Publishers extensive legal, accounting, financial product line. Legal Study Aids Publisher Will Become Part of Aspen Publishers

(CHICAGO, March 21, 2002) - Wolters Kluwer North America said today that it has acquired Casenotes Publishing Company, Inc., Santa Monica, Calif., a publisher of market-leading study aids for U.S. law students. Casenotes (casenotes.com) will become part of Aspen Publishers (aspenpublishers.com), New York, NY, a leading provider of legal, business and healthcare information, and a Wolters Kluwer North America company. Terms of the sale were not released. Casenotes offers multiple product lines targeted to law students, but is best known for its Legal Briefs product line, which provides summaries of the cases used in law school casebooks. The Legal Briefs series includes 150 titles covering all major casebooks used in U.S. law schools. Casenotes will become part of Aspen Publishers, further strengthening Aspen's extensive legal education product line. Aspen offers a market-leading line of casebooks used by law schools and law students. WOLTERS KLUWER ACQUIRES ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT PUBLICATIONS FROM CUTTER INFORMATION CORP.

(CHICAGO, December 7, 2001) - Wolters Kluwer North America said today that it has acquired Cutter Environment, a division of Cutter Information Corp., Arlington, Mass. The division, which publishes newsletters and special reports, will be integrated into Aspen Publishers, New York City, a provider of legal and business information and a Wolters Kluwer North America company. Terms of the agreement were not announced.

WOLTERS KLUWER ACQUIRES ACCOUNTING PRODUCT LINE FROM STRAFFORD PUBLICATIONS, INC.

Products Will Become Part of Aspen Publishers

(CHICAGO, November 19, 2001) - Wolters Kluwer North America said today that it has acquired the print and electronic accounting industry products of Strafford Publications, Inc., Atlanta, a provider of specialized information services. The products will become a part of Aspen Publishers, New York City, a provider of legal, business and health care information and a Wolters Kluwer North America company. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The Strafford accounting products provide a range of in-depth news, competitive analyses, proprietary rankings, exclusive surveys, practice management advisories and special reports for professionals and accounting firms.

Among the publications acquired was Public Accounting Report, one of the industry's most recognized newsletters covering news, profiles, mergers and acquisitions and legal and regulatory issues affecting accounting firms, professionals and industry leaders.
