Herb Hovenkamp, leading antitrust scholar and author of Wolters Kluwer's Antitrust Law: An Analysis of Antitrust Principles and their Application, is routinely cited by the U.S. Supreme Court justices most recently in the FTC vs. Actavis case. This article discusses the recent citations to Hovenkamp's work by the court and includes his comments on the Actavis case.

Hovenkamp is the Ben V. & Dorothy Willie Professor of Law at the University of Iowa, where he teaches antitrust law, intellectual property, real property, torts, and American legal history. Hovenkamp is the author of some one dozen books and approximately 80 articles. His principal writing includes Antitrust Law: An Analysis of Antitrust Principles and Their Application (formerly with the late Phillip E. Areeda and the late Donald F. Turner) (3d ed. 2012); IP and Antitrust: An Analysis of Antitrust Principles Applied to Intellectual Property Law (2d ed. 2012); and Fundamentals of Antitrust Law (4th ed. 2013).
